Investment Fund for Wales

What is IFW?

The Investment Fund for Wales (IFW) is a £130 million investment fund, aimed at driving the growth of small and medium-sized businesses in Wales.

The IFW is one of a series of Nations and Regions Investment Funds being launched by the British Business Bank which will deliver a £1.6 billion commitment of new funding to smaller businesses across the UK.

The Investment Fund for Wales will offer a range of commercial finance options with loans from £25,000 to £2 million and equity investment of up to £5 million. By increasing the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for smaller businesses in Wales it aims to tackle an identified funding gap.

FW Capital manages the £30 million IFW – FW Capital Debt Finance fund.

We provide loans from £100,000 to £2 million to help businesses grow. The funding can be used for a variety of business needs, including:

  • Growth capital
  • Hiring staff
  • Expanding into new markets
  • Developing products and services
  • Purchasing equipment or machinery
  • Buying, upgrading or expanding premises
  • Transition to net zero

Loans are available between 1 - 5 years.

We can help businesses who are based in Wales and have the potential to grow.

If your business isn’t based in Wales, but is either willing to relocate or will have a material presence in Wales as a result of the investment, then this should be sufficient – our local Investment Executives can provide further guidance on this.

Before you start your application, make sure your business meets the criteria of the fund.
