FW Capital, alongside the Development Bank of Wales, have announced bigmoose as their Charity Partner for 2025/26.

Set up by father and daughter team Jeff and Chloe Smith, bigmoose provides therapy and counselling for those going through difficulties with their mental health, while also providing mental health first aid training for those looking to help others.

bigmoose is a charity that prides itself on providing fast and effective therapy for those that are struggling, helping people to access therapists within a week. Their core aims are to help people with their mental health, prevent suicide and reduce homelessness.

The team at FW Capital kickstarted fundraising efforts at their annual Newcastle charity ball, held at St James’ Park and attended by 280 guests. The evening’s activities raised a record £25,000!

This follows a successful year of support for the British Heart Foundation, during which a total of £57,870 was raised to help the charity in its goal of supporting the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Joanne Whitfield, Fund Director at FW Capital  said: “What a year of fundraising we’ve had, raising an astonishing amount for the British Heart Foundation through a series of cake sales, quiz nights, charity balls, and marathon runs. It’s been a real pleasure!

“Now we’re excited to announce our 2025/2026 chosen charity as bigmoose. It’s an amazing charity and one we’re keen to help raise awareness about. To hear from colleagues who have had direct experience of their services really brings home how much of a difference they can make, sometimes the difference between life and death. Raising awareness and vital funding for bigmoose means they will be able help many more people to access specialist support quickly. Thank you to everyone who supported our Charity Ball. We’re so grateful to all the lovely people who were able to join us for the evening. We honestly can't believe how generous everyone has been this year with raffle and auction prizes and donations.  To raise £25,000 from one night is overwhelming.”

Chloe Smith, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at bigmoose said:From the moment we first spoke to FW Capital and the Development Bank of Wales team we felt their passion, energy and genuine drive to make a difference. When we got the call to say we’d been chosen as their charity of the year, the reaction in our office was electric. We were all so honoured to have been chosen and so excited as we knew the impact the support would have on so many people.

“The fundraising at the Newcastle ball was nothing short of extraordinary. When Dad and I found out the total we were honestly speechless. It isn’t just a number for us it is the promise of support for 62 people. 62 people who will now get the chance to receive life-changing therapy. 62 lives that will be held, supported, and helped back to hope all because of the FW Capital and Development Bank of Wales team. In a world where mental health struggles are so often faced in silence, this kind of support is everything. We don’t take a single penny for granted. We’re tracking the impact and will be sharing every step of the journey back with the team. From all of us at bigmoose, thank you. Thank you for showing up, for caring, and for helping us save lives.”
