FW Capital’s charity fundraising efforts hit £30K

Wedi ei gyhoeddi:
FW Capital team

FW Capital has so far raised £30K to support Pancreatic Cancer UK, and Alzheimer’s Research UK, marking an exceptional start to a year of fundraising.

Activities held so far include two charity summer balls held at Old Trafford Cricket Ground and St James’ Park which included charity auctions and raffles. Colleagues from FW Capital also completed Endure24 the UK’s largest 24 hour ultra trail race, receiving sponsorship for their achievements. The team ran a massive 505 miles, averaging out at 25.25 miles per person. Grant Peggie, FW Capital Fundraising Manager, also completed the 91 miles Fife Coastal Walk raising £3,500.

Melanie Taylor, Portfolio Manager at FW Capital explains:To have raised £30,000 already is an incredible achievement which wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our employees and professionals across the North East and North West business communities who’ve got involved in a variety of fundraising activities.

Pancreatic Cancer UK is our chosen charity for the year and one that is very close to our hearts after we lost our dear friend and colleague Elaine Yarwood in April this year.

Her bravery throughout was inspirational and we really wanted to raise as much money as possible to honour her. We are carrying out a number of fundraising events throughout the year. We’re also delighted to support Alzheimer’s Research UK with much needed funds. We’d like to thank everyone who has donated and attended our charity summer balls. The support from both the business community  and  our colleagues has been amazing really to the challenge and  supporting our fundraising efforts.”

Amy Hannagan, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Pancreatic Cancer UK, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at FW Capital for their support. We are blown away by all that they have done in Elaine’s memory.

Research saves lives and the money they have raised will help us take desperately needed steps towards making early diagnosis and better, more effective treatments a reality for future patients and their loved ones.”

Pancreatic Cancer UK is taking on the deadliest common cancer through research, support and campaigning to transform the future for everyone affected. Its support line, which is staffed entirely by specialist nurses, is the only service of its kind in the UK dedicated to pancreatic cancer. Survival for this devastating disease has barely improved in 50 years. The charity is funding innovative research to find the breakthroughs that will deliver earlier diagnosis and, new, more effective treatments for pancreatic cancer.

Alzheimer's Research UK is the United Kingdom's leading dementia research charity, founded in 1992. It is dedicated to funding scientific studies to find ways to treat, cure or prevent all forms of dementia and its vision is to find a cure for dementia by 2025. As of 2019, Alzheimer's Research UK funds 139 research projects across the UK and internationally, and has committed more than £117 million to dementia research. In 2021/22, donations helped Alzheimer's Research UK to invest £23.6m into dementia research.
