Merchant Park Developments

Everything ground to a halt post Covid, and we needed a funding boost to assist the completion of this project. The backing of FW Capital and the North East CA has enabled us to fast-track delivery of the first unit.

Adrian Goodall, Director, Merchant Park Developments

FW Capital provided a seven-figure funding package to support the development of Merchant Park on Millennium Way at Aycliffe Business Park. The funding, delivered through the North East Commercial Property Investment Fund, helped bring forward a major commercial scheme that includes three new warehouse units and high-quality employment space.

The investment was provided through the North East Commercial Property Investment Fund, which is managed by FW Capital and backed by the North East Combined Authority (NECA). Additional support from NECA helped bridge the initial viability gap and fund essential infrastructure works to enable future phases of the development.

Merchant Park is a 65-acre business destination adjacent to Junction 59 of the A1(M) and is home to Hitachi Rail Europe's train manufacturing facility, one of the region's most significant inward investment projects. The development has played an important role in supporting economic growth in Newton Aycliffe, with the wider site contributing to the creation of more than 1,100 jobs following the completion of its first warehouse development.
