Busy Bins

Commercial and residential waste collection specialist Busy Bins is focused on growth after securing a six-figure investment from NPIF II – FW Capital Debt Finance, which is managed by FW Capital as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II).

Owner Josh Morris and his dad Mike Morris launched Busy Bins in 2015. It operates as a waste collection service provider and also offers skip hire and junk removals that support households and businesses in Bury, Rochdale, Manchester, Oldham, Bolton and Salford.

The NPIF II - FW Capital funding is supporting Busy Bins growth strategy, which includes expanding its current team of 12 to 20 employees and increasing its marketing activities. It is also helping with the introduction of a more automated technology to improve customer experience and make their services more accessible, personalised and convenient.

Josh Morris, Owner at Busy Bins said: “Busy Bins was born when local councils reduced the number of residential waste collections on offer. Despite their best efforts to recycle, people were struggling with overflowing bins and they needed a solution. So we stepped in with reliable refuse collections. Since then the business has grown and we have a loyal customer base thanks to our dependable services. The funding from FW Capital is supporting our next phase of growth as we look to meet the increased demand for our services. The whole process was easy and everything was followed up at a good speed to ensure we received the right funding for our business needs.”

Barry Wilson, Investment Executive at FW Capital added: “Josh and Mike spotted a gap in the market and since then have enjoyed fast growth. The NPIF II investment will make a big impact in supporting their growth ambitions further as they look to expand the team and invest in enhancing their services.”

Sue Barnard, Senior Investment Manager at the British Business Bank, added: “The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II is enabling Busy Bins to take the next step in its growth journey by creating new jobs and investing in technology and enhanced customer services. By supporting ambitious businesses across the North, we are helping them access the finance they need to innovate, scale and create opportunities within their local communities.”

The £660m Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II) covers the entire North of England and provides loans from £25k to £2m and equity investment up to £5m to help a range of small and medium sized businesses to start up, scale up or stay ahead.

The purpose of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II is to drive sustainable economic growth by supporting innovation and creating local opportunity for new and growing businesses across the North of England. The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II will increase the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for the North’s smaller businesses, providing funds to firms that might otherwise not receive investment and help to break down barriers in access to finance.
